At the corner of Seven Mile Road and West Outer Drive in northwest Detroit sits an unassuming 7,500-square-foot brick building called the Detroit Martial Arts Institute. The institute was founded by George Reynolds and Eugene Woods Jr., ninth-degree grand masters in martial arts with over 96 years of combined experience. The Detroit neighborhood institution has provided resources to the community since 2004, and it's the only karate school in the country that has two ninth-degree black belts.
