What we’re drinking: Silent Pool Gin Where it’s from: Hailing from Surrey, England, Silent Pool launched in the UK a decade ago and just officially arrived in the United States mid-last year. In 2023, it was purchased by drinks giant William Grant & Sons. Why we’re drinking this: About 95% of our reviews are based around whisk(e)y or tequila, but it’s summertime, and that calls for gin. What we’re drinking: Ardbeg Smokiverse Where it’s from: Established in 1815, the Islay-based Ardbeg — now owned by The Glenmorangie Company — has a reputation for producing an extremely peaty and smoky single malt, along with several innovative, limited-time expressions. Why we’re drinking this: Timing, really. Ardbeg Day is a global celebration of all things Ardbeg, held annually on the last Saturday of Islay’s Festival of Music and Malt, Fèis Ile (so this year, it’s May 31).

I’m a whisk(e)y person, but my favorite cocktail is a Daiquiri. Not the frozen/flavored monstrosities you’ll find at beach resorts and chain restaurants, but the staple recipe of light rum, simple syrup and fresh lime juice, served straight up. It’s perfect. Wait, or is it?

RT @ATRightMovies: ALIEN was released 44 years ago today. One of the definitive science fiction/horror movies, its influence is still seen…
