In this study, the curing parameters of the water-based coating were carefully optimized using waterborne alkyd resins as the matrix resin and totally methyl etherified amino resins as the crosslinking agent. Through an orthogonal experimental design and a controlled experiment, the optimal conditions, which were a 7:1 ratio of alkyd resins to amino resins and curing at 403.15 K for 30 min, were determined.

Street-Art murals are spreading and transforming urban areas worldwide; however, proper and effective conservation procedures for this emerging form of art are lacking. Outdoor murals are made of inorganic pigments or dyes blended with synthetic organic binders applied on inorganic substrates, mainly concrete, and are exposed to serious degradation due to light, temperature, and humidity fluctuations, pollutants, and biological agents that hinder their conservation.

To enhance the water resistance of paper-based packaging materials, an emulsion coating with high water resistance properties has been developed for application to these materials. This coating was synthesised using isooctyl acrylate, lauryl methacrylate, styrene, and methacrylic acid as reactive monomers, organosilicone KH151 as a coupling agent, heptadecanol polyoxyethylene ether monophosphate as the emulsifier, and glycerol triglycidyl ether as a post-crosslinking agent.

Microbial active ingredients are limited due to their risk assessment. It is still mandatory to have antibacterial coatings especially in the medical industry. This new approach offers a solution to this dilemma. The spread of bacteria should be prevented everywhere, especially in the medical environment. Coatings can help in the routine.

Modified ZnO nanoparticles proved their performance on aluminium substrates in acrylic based coatings. Corroded aluminium spider of a washing machine. Protection is vital to prolong lifetime of parts like this. Source: DSLucas - stock.adobe.com Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles are known as cost-effective fillers in polymer composites, but their curing properties disruption is a challenge.
