The recent uncontrollable wildfires in California, spreading quickly and burning down whole towns, should make people think. In the world, nothing happens by chance. We are not living in a Godless, Creatorless world. Everything, from intelligent design to the organized system our earth and the universe are running with, points to an All-Powerful, fully involved Creator. Consider a library or home. Without constant maintenance, the place becomes a disorganized mess.

Another year came and went. Less than 2 months until the new year. As we reach the end of 2024, we have the chance to enter a beautiful and exciting 2025, or a chaotic and uncertain 2025. It depends on our actions, both individually and on a global level. Will we ensure better actions on an individual level? Will we see action that ensures improvement on a global level? One thing I do near the end of the year is setting goals to achieve by the end of the year.

Far worse than any disaster is what’s taking place in Gaza. For over a year, Gaza has been bombed and completely destroyed. Food and humanitarian aid has been blocked from entering it. The worst man-made famine has been created. People are starving. Children are malnourished and dying. Water, electricity, and other necessities are scarce. Diseases are spreading. Hospitals have been bombed and shutdown. And now, people are being burned alive.

Life is a mix of good situations and bad, ease and struggles, worries and happiness. Almost everyone struggles with something. Challenges, whether internal or external, are abound. However, if you focus on the bad, the result is increased stress and anxiety and less happiness. It can lead to a variety of further problems such as illnesses due to stress and relationship problems. Furthermore, one person’s unhappiness can affect others such as immediate family members and colleagues.

According to economics, an externality is a harm or benefit of one party’s actions on a bystander. Some externalities are harmful while others are beneficial. An example of a harmful externality is smoking. Because smoking harms the bystander and not just the smoker, it has been banned in public places. Like smoking, a person’s mode of dress can become a negative externality.
