Chris Eubank Sr has suggested he may lace up his gloves again for one night only. Eubank fought during a golden era of British boxing from 1985 to 1998. He ruled as world champion for more than five years and was undefeated across his first decade in the sport. His legendary wins over Nigel Benn and Michael Watson saw the sport in the UK ride a wave of popularity and of course, decades on, led to one of the biggest fights in recent times when his son Junior renewed family rivalries with Conor Benn.

Only one Brit has so far has taken on the former long-ruling champion Deontay Wilder. The American was renowned for being one of the biggest punchers in the division, with 42 of his 43 wins coming by knockout. However, since his trilogy with Tyson Fury, he has failed to be at his best. The pair’s first fight came back in 2018 and ended in a draw after Fury had returned from a long lay-off. Floyd Mayweather knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a boxing great. The American is one of the few to have retired from the sport unbeaten. His record sits at 50 fights and 50 wins, 27 of them by knockout. Mayweather faced a who’s who of talent across his career, including 24 wins against former or current world title holders and five wins against Hall of Famers. In 2018 he was rated as the highest paid athlete of them all.

Roy Jones Jr has backed a heavyweight legend to come out of retirement. One American big man and a former Jones exhibition opponent, Mike Tyson. recently did the same when he returned aged 58 to take on Jake Paul. However, he was beaten soundly on points in an underwhelming affair. Jones himself last fought in 2023 when he scored a majority decision over Anthony Pettis but continues to state that he is open to competing again.

Joe Calzaghe is one of few men to have retired from boxing with a perfectly unbeaten and unblemished record. ‘The Pride of Wales’ fought a total of 46 times between 1993 and 2008 and was unified champion at super-middleweight before moving up and holding the Ring Magazine’s light-heavyweight title.
