BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The U.S. is among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth. That’s according to a new report that shows over 10% of births were preterm last year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds 10.5% of births that happened before 37 weeks of pregnancy in 2021 — the highest percentage ever. In 2022, that number dropped to 10.4%, a negligible difference, according to the head of March of Dimes.
