BARRON COUNTY (WQOW) - A Rice Lake man charged last year with his 17 OWI offense was sentenced Thursday,Mark Alan Johnson, 72, was sentenced to ten years behind bars. After that, he'll be on extended supervision for five years. As 18 News reported, when Johnson was pulled over last year, a preliminary blood test showed an alcohol concentration of .147, according to the criminal complaint. Prior records show Johnson has 16 other OWI charges, dating back to 1990.

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - A Mondovi man was sentenced Thursday for causing a fatal car crash in Eau Claire that led to additional charges. Kenneth Van Meter was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a car after a crash in May 2023. The crash resulted in the death of Tammy Jarecki from Eau Claire. Witnesses reported seeing Van Meter speeding before rear-ending Jarecki at a red light on Clairemont Avenue. Months later, Van Meter faced 15 counts of child pornography possession.

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - OakLeaf Clinics is set to relocate its Rice Lake and Cornell clinics in June 2025 to meet the growing needs of the community, according to a press release. The Cornell clinic team will move to 855 Lakeland Drive, Chippewa Falls, on June 9, 2025. This new location will offer services like laboratory, imaging, and access to specialists in cardiology and OB/GYN. The Rice Lake clinic will transition to 2900 Wisconsin Avenue on June 2, 2025.
