Liz Bishop is retiring after more than 50 years in local journalism. CBS6 Albany made the announcement Wednesday afternoon. Bishop’s journey at CBS6 began in 1973. She was attending the University at Albany and was hired as a weekend sportscaster. Few women worked in sports journalism at the time, especially on-air. Bishop proved herself as a “versatile and courageous journalist,” according to the announcement of her departure on CBS6 Albany’s website.
