The couple went to the hospital to be treated after the fire and returned to find the remainder of their belongings had been stolen. Now, they are getting a Helping Hand. “If it wasn’t for him and Jack, we would have still been up there waiting. If it wasn’t for them, I don’t know what would have happened to us,” Sheldon Overton said.

The non-profit organization has grown considerably and relies on the community’s generosity to continue its mission. Now, they are getting a helping hand. An East Toledo family is trying to recover from a devastating fire that happened in June on Berry Street. “Our dogs were in the yard under a sheet,” Brandy Hopper said. The Hopper family believes the house was broken into.
