Liberty University students had the opportunity to share their safety concerns with campus leadership when the Office of Security and Public Safety (OSPS) and the Student Government Association (SGA) held the third annual Campus Safety Walk Oct. 29. This year, the Campus Safety Walk focused on specific areas around South Campus that could be made safer, but students were able to bring up concerns about other areas of campus as well.

In the bowels of the Sandusky Library is a series of cavernous areas and a jail cell carved into the stone basement with its barred-cell door still intact. This dungeon-like area was part of the historic Erie County Jail that, for more than a century, housed hundreds of inmates arrested in the Sandusky area on charges of crimes ranging from drunkenness to theft.

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2024 in Washington, D.C., Feb. 21-24 brought together attendees and speakers from different nations. CPAC describes itself on its website as the “largest and most influential gathering of conservatives in the world.” This year, thousands of attendees came dressed in anything from casual attire supporting their favorite conservative candidate to ballgowns.

When Josiah Henson left the plantation where he had been enslaved in Maryland and traveled to Kentucky, it was his first trip as a free man. He planned to reunite with his wife, Charlotte, and their children, who were living at his former master’s brother’s home in Kentucky and build a life for the first time as a man who was not “owned” by another human being.
