    Cabinet has recently approved the Health Ministry’s proposal to roll out free insulin pumps for Type 1 diabetes patients over the coming months. These pumps will be given for free to patients as part of the national health system and the service will be rolled out in a phased approach. Insulin pumps will first be offered to patients aged between two years and 18 years, covering around 225 patients, the Health Ministry said.

Since the year 2000, the island has been the property of the MIDI consortium as part of a concession agreement reached back then to develop luxury apartments at Tigné Point and Manoel Island. But now, Moviment Graffitti and several organisations are petitioning the government to take back the island and turn it into a public park.

    An air of gloom hangs over the Nationalist Party after a dismal showing in MaltaToday’s April survey with functionaries talking of a “disheartening” effect. The survey showed the Labour Party ahead by 24,000 votes and PN Leader Bernard Grech with a trust rating of 20%, the lowest in 14 months. The results represent a significant setback for the PN which had gained some traction in the months after the positive performance in the European Parliament election last year.
