    VERNON, Ind. – The Town of Vernon was awarded $1,086,100 in 2021 from the second round of the Next Level Trails (NLT), an infrastructure grant program that accelerates the completion of major highway projects, expands access to rural broadband services, and pursues the expansion of rail projects in northwest Indiana.     COLUMBUS, Ind. — A tornado was spotted in Bartholomew County yesterday evening. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), just before 9 p.m., a confirmed tornado was located seven miles east of Columbus. According to reports, Bartholomew County Emergency Management and NWS said that Newbern, Hartsville, Elizabethtown, Grammer, Hope, Azalia, Walesboro, Ceraland, Jonesville, the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds, and Petersville areas have all been impacted.
