The area’s been under a drought watch since July 2024, when officials advised the public to use water wisely. The alert marked the first time it was implemented since 2010, according to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. It’s a day of transformation for dozens of deserving families in the D.C. area; they’re getting home makeovers. The organization, A Wider Circle, uses volunteer designers to work with families to fill their homes with quality donated furniture that they pick out. A total of 35 families are getting their homes transformed all in one day on Thursday. The families live in D.C., and in Maryland’s Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.

The latest viral TikTok social media challenge has school systems issuing a warning. Loudoun County, Virginia, and Prince George’s County, Maryland, schools have sent letters to parents warning about the challenge, known as the Chromebook Challenge, where students jam a sharp object into the charging port of a Chromebook laptop, causing a fire. Chromebooks are widely distributed to students in many school districts.

It’s called ‘Decision Day,’ when students who know their next step go public with their plans. Students flooded into Prince George’s Stadium, many showing off their chosen college or university with T-shirts.
