• Fendrich Golf Course in Evansville, Indiana, reopened after being closed for 17 days due to flooding. • Heavy rainfall in early April caused Pigeon Creek to overflow, flooding several holes and closing the course. • While the flooding was significant, it did not reach the levels seen in 2011. • The course reopened with some restrictions, and the superintendent is now focused on addressing muddy fairways and potential weed growth. EVANSVILLE — Seventeen days.

EVANSVILLE — Seventeen days. That's how long Fendrich Golf Course was out of commision. Fendrich, one of three public courses operated by the City of Evansville, reopened on Monday following a large storm system that hit the area in early April. The rain caused Pigeon Creek, which runs adajcent to the property, to overspill and flooded multiple holes. Course officials don't think it reached the level of flooding in 2011. It was close, though.

Players either took turns in the batting cages or played cards. The coaches sat upstairs watching The Masters with one eye on their weather apps. Nearly every baseball game in the area was canceled that evening. Except one.
