    Little Rock Christian swept the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year race and, even more impressive, both winners still have another high school basketball season to play. Juniors JJ Andrews for the boys and Whitley Rogers for the girls have been named the winners of the prestigious award for the 2024-25 season. Rogers, a 5-foot-11 guard, was announced the girls winner last week after helping the Warriors to a 22-5 finish and another 5A state tournament appearance.

    The Madness of March is here and all of the games are set for the Men’s and Women’s NCAA basketball tournaments that were announced during Selection Sunday. The Women’s Tournament tips off Wednesday and will start with the First Four matchups before the first round tips on Friday, and the Men’s First Four contests will begin Tuesday evening before the first round tips Thursday. There are 16 Arkansas high school graduates — six in the Women’s and 10 in the Men’s — on rosters for teams competing.

    The Earle Bulldogs and the Marked Tree Indians will square off in the Class 1A boys basketball state championship game Saturday evening at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs for the final game of the 2024-25 season. Tip-off set for 7:45 p.m.For the third consecutive season, Marked Tree has reached the 1A state final and will face off against 1A-3 foe Earle. These are two of the more established small-school programs as Earle is here for the 13th time, and the Indians are making their eighth trip.
