The White Sox are getting another glimpse of their future. A source confirmed to the Sun-Times that the team is calling up catcher Kyle Teel to the majors for Friday’s series opener against the Royals. Teel, the Sox’ No. 2-ranked prospect, had been raking at Triple-A Charlotte. He reached base safely in 38 of his last 39 games, and slashed .326/.424/.525 since April 10. Teel told reporters Monday that he was taking grounders at first base.

The White Sox announced that Jerry Reinsdorf and Justin Ishbia have reached a long-term investment agreement that will allow Ishbia to obtain a future controlling interest in the organization. Ishbia, part majority owner of the Phoeinx Suns and Mercury with his brother Mat, dropped his pursuit of the Minnesota Twins in Feburary and increased his minority stake in the Sox. Once manager Will Venable brought in right-hander Mike Vasil, the rookie steadied the ship for the Sox, throwing 3 ⅔ scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out three.

The White Sox keep getting hit hard on the injury front. Before Wednesday’s game, the club announced that second baseman Lenyn Sosa (right hip flexor strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list. Sosa said the injury happened early in Monday’s loss against the Tigers while running the bases. He said the pain increased as the game progressed. “Thank God it’s nothing serious,” Sosa said through an interpreter.
