Sometimes, you just have to give up the dream. I know that now. It’s important to admit your shortcomings. To know who you are as a person, as a people really. For me that day came when I gave up on board games. It was a hard loss. Past. I grew up on board games. It sounds so iconic, but I swear it really happened. Holidays and Sunday dinners at my grandma’s, the entire extended family would gather around Scrabble or that 1980s fave, Trivial Pursuit.

I am careful not to jinx anything but it’s looking like Girl Wonder and her Handsome Husband have found a house — old with amazing character and “good bones.” The house is also exactly what you would expect of any child of mine: It’s a rescue. Accordingly, the first question she gets when showing photos of the looming 150-year-old manse is “Is it haunted?”To this we say, “Gosh we hope so!” Friendly ghosts only, of course; see also: orbs, spirits or just a general vibe of happiness.

If all goes well, it looks like GirlWonder and her handsome husband have found a house. Lord willing. Obviously, I need a new hobby now. My current hobby of attending open houses and being equal parts amused and appalled at home renovation choices is no longer applicable. As someone who is deeply into researching ancestry, I have found myself wondering what my ancestors would think of the person I am today: my life, my family and my accomplishments. Then I reach for a bottle of water, purchased for between $1 to $3 each. I cannot help but think they are aghast. “Who on earth will pay money for bottles of water?!”This would likely be followed by a firm belief that I am an idiot and all their hard work to bring our family to the new world was for naught. That is fair.

Social media is useful because it makes it easy to stay in touch with loved ones, find new information and exchange experiences. It provides a forum for networking, expressing oneself and keeping up with current affairs. Research studies show a strong connection between the use of social media and its undesirable outcomes that increase the prevalence of numerous mental health disorders, including anxiety, stress, depression and loneliness.

RT @TheAmberPicota: My therapist had me write letters to people for closure, saying what I felt. They were quite explicit. When I showed up…

I hold the unpopular view that there should be zero sales opportunities in a public school day. Books fairs, candy sales, flowers? No. The assumption that some kind souls will provide charity so kids without funds can take part in some token way is not enough. It’s divisive.

RT @CoachMoser1: Congratulations to the Captains on the 2022 G-Men. They are Jesse Grace, Keegan Sell, Carter Bates, Eric Geddes, and Deaco…
