Tomorrow is the 111th anniversary of Mother’s Day. And while we celebrate it with gifting moms flowers, chocolates, jewelry and brunches to the tune of $34 billion, most folks don’t know the roots of this hallmark holiday. Or should I say, “Hallmark holiday?” Anyway …There’s a misconception that the holiday is and always has been about commemorating moms’ devotion to family. Yeah, not so much. Mother’s Day actually began as a holiday to commemorate women’s political activism.
