This funny and sweet queer retelling of Jane Austen's EMMA, set in a wealthy Southern California high school, may remind listeners of the 1995 movie CLUELESS. Narrator Drew Caiden is pitch perfect as smart, handsome, popular Emmett. He prides himself on being nice and, as one of his acts of niceness, attempts to find a boyfriend for his former hookup. Caiden ably animates the friends and adults in Emmett's life, but his performance of Emmett is the heart of the audiobook.

Tennessee Russo and the Problematic ArcheologistWho doesn’t love Indiana Jones? Well… a lot of people. And I understand why. He represents not just the time he was created, but the older serials he was based on, none of which have aged well. Archeological adventure is fun! But the colonizing parts are not. It’s stuck with me, even as I look back fondly on the films (and on young Harrison Ford). We all have our flawed heroes, after all. We’d all love to fix them.

From the Tennessee Russo series , Vol. 1 by L.C. Rosen ‧ A 17-year-old treasure hunter reunites with his estranged father to uncover a buried relic of queer history. Tennessee Russo, a White, Jewish boy, used to live for the thrill of adventuring side by side with his archaeologist father for their popular TV documentary series. Together, they solved puzzles, evaded deadly traps, and witnessed real magic (edited out of their show for believability).
