When I was younger, I used to devour books by Canadian author Charles De Lint. His fantasy novels were so intriguing because he would cast them in a world that exists in two dimensions at the same time. Modern life of cars, TVs, video games, business and the like would be happening simultaneously with the world of the “Summer Born,” elves, trolls, gnomes, fairies, wizards and magical mystical creatures. I am always amazed at the amount of things that I walk by, drive by, exist by that I never realized were there. Millions of things that I take for granted. Last Sunday (Dec. 10) evening we had a powerful rainstorm in Columbus. The metal roof on our house was singing in chorus to the large drops that were falling. Soon the wind picked up as well and driving rain was hitting the windows of our living room.
