Pittsburgh-based oil and gas company EQT Corporation is facing accusations from Greene County residents in a class-action lawsuit filed this summer. The complaint, filed June 20, alleges the company’s natural gas drilling operations in New Freeport contaminated the community’s groundwater aquifers in June 2022. Residents are being represented by Washington D.C.-based Russell Law Firm and Waynesburg Pa.-based Hook & Hook.

By Lane Moore | 90.5 WESA Illinois-based nonprofit Living Lands & Waters (LL&W) has pulled an estimated 120,000 pounds of debris out of the Allegheny and the Monongahela rivers since it began dredging the waters Aug. 12. Working in partnership with Pennsylvania nonprofit Three Rivers Waterkeeper, LL&W has mobilized a deck barge, towboat, John Deere excavator, and several work boats in the water surrounding downtown Pittsburgh.

The first Latter-day Saints temple to be built in the Pittsburgh region will be dedicated Sept. 15. Construction began three years ago in Cranberry Township. Unlike common LDS church buildings, temples are used for important ceremonies like weddings and baptisms by proxy –– a practice during which a Latter-Day Saint can receive a baptism on behalf of a deceased relative.
