At this week’s regular session of the Huntsville City Council, councilmembers considered the final design of the University Avenue project to be submitted by Walker County for the 2025 TxDOT Transportation Alternative Grant application. The sons and daughters of City of Huntsville employees who received scholarships from the Huntsville Employee Scholarship Committee were announced at this week’s Huntsville City Council Session. The Courier of Montgomery County reports that the KimoKawaii Experience and Convention event will be at the Lone Star Convention Center on Airport Road Saturday and Sunday to celebrate Japanese culture through a fashion show at 6 PM, and art and entertainment, while making available a unique and immersive experience for attendees of all ages. All three episodes of the original anime series “Kushi and the Anunnaki” will be shown at 11:30 AM.

In Huntsville Police news, looking back over the past several days. On Saturday, in the 2100 block of Sycamore Avenue, an unknown suspect entered a vehicle and stole a firearm. A theft was reported in the 2400 block of Montgomery Road. In the 100 block of I-45 South, Craig Dupree was arrested for theft with a previous conviction and possession of marijuana. On Sunday, in the 100 block of Avenue D. in a domestic case two known people touched each other in an offensive manner.

The Courier of Montgomery County reports that in order to help with water infrastructure issues, Representative Will Metcalf and Senator Brandon Creighton have secured $15 million through the Texas Water Development Board for the city of Conroe. This action helped delay a city-wide moratorium on development. According to Councilwoman Marsha Porter, the city found out about the $15 million late Thursday.
