Since I got into comics—more years ago than I would like to document on the internet—Captain America has been one of my favorite heroes. Sure, his whole persona is a little cheesy and heavy-handed, but to a certain extent, that's comics, isn't it? And the writer's are self-aware enough to use it to their advantage most of the time. To me, Captain America has always served as a wonderful lens to examine the United States, for better or worse.
