The Leinster senior and intermediate camogie finals will go ahead under protest on Saturday, with players playing in skorts at Netwatch Cullen Park if they are required to. The players involved have requested that there should be no photography or video at the matches if skorts are enforced. The senior panels of Kilkenny and Wexford and the intermediate panels of Carlow and Laois issued a joint statement on Wednesday, released by the GPA.

The Camogie Association has bowed to pressure from players over the ongoing skort controversy and will hold a Special Congress on May 22nd at Croke Park. The Association confirmed this morning it will hold the Congress to consider one or more motions on providing players with the choice to wear shorts or skorts. Any new rule on skorts would come into effect from later this month.

A study by the Gaelic Players Association has found 70% of inter-county camogie players find skorts uncomfortable and 83% of players at least want the right to choose between wearing skorts and shorts. The traditional skort is mandated playing gear for camogie players, a rule preserved at the 2024 Camogie Congress, at which four motions related to changing the rule were defeated.

Sarsfields hurling club on Saturday unveiled the new statue to club and Cork legend Teddy McCarthy, on the day the club's base in Riverstown was officialy renamed in his honour as Páirc Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh. Taoiseach Micheál Martin and GAA president Jarlath Burns were among those present for the unveiling, as the iconic dual star was remembered in stories and song.
