The first meeting is always special. "This is K," he said, an awkward smile twitching on his lips. "Hi," K said. "This is for you," she added, handing me a hardbound book. "You and I Eat the Same," read the title. "Wow, thanks!" I was genuinely happy to receive the book. I made a mental note to promote it to the top of my long to-be-read list. After all, it was from a special person - my son's special friend. Several months after K had given me the book, I picked it up and started reading.

I created another writing nook for myself and lo and behold, the hiatus of a couple of months vanished in a snap. This one change has helped me cope with other changes. These days, I find myself in the midst of transformations - welcoming new members into the family fold while also experiencing the quiet of an empty nest. The peaceful solitude has brought with it a calmer mindset, allowing me to reflect and rejuvenate. Change can be daunting, but it can also be refreshing.

The heart that lies crouched under the weight of a burdensome life, shakes itself up from gloom and stretches languorously as Skeeter Davis pens her letter, “Dear John, oh how I hate to write.”“Can you hear the drums, Fernando?” Abba’s rendition of nostalgia is an all-time pick-me-up.
