A dental bridge is a permanent dental restoration designed to fill the gap created by one or more missing teeth. It is cemented securely in place and acts as an artificial tooth or multiple teeth. A conventional bridge consists of two crowns - one attached to the tooth next to the gap (called an abutment) and one replacing the missing tooth. These crowns are connected by a pontic that spans the empty space where the tooth is missing.
