It’s CPR and AED Awareness week and the American Heart Association has launched a movement in an effort to double the survival rate of those who suffer from sudden cardiac arrest. According to the American Heart Association, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals each year and over 10,000 happen in workplaces. The Nation of Lifesavers movement hopes to double that survival rate by 2030.

On Friday, people across the Tennessee Valley will gather to bring awareness to the number one killer of both men and women: heart disease. Felicia Jackson says she almost lost her son several years ago due to a medical emergency that ultimately led to her creating life-saving tool. "I noticed my son was choking in the back seat of our car. My husband pulled over to the side of the road and handed the baby to me to perform C-P-R. I totally forgot my training,” said Jackson.
