As I type this up, the snow is falling and I’ve already been outside once to clear the driveway, sidewalks, and car. With a few more inches expected before bedtime, I thought today would be the perfect day to make a stew that simmers all afternoon as the smells float through the house making my mouth water. A delicious crusty baguette warmed in the oven is the perfect accompaniment and one I’m looking forward to this evening.

It’s only January and I know it’s a little too early to think about summer reads, but hear me out – May/June will be here before you know it and I think it’s a great idea to get some books on a summer reading goals list soon so that they can be found (either at the library or bookstore) and are ready to go! High schoolers tend to be able to pick up fun reads during the summer because thye don’t have to worry about schoolwork and have a little extra free time on their hands.

Mmmmm! Donuts are definitely a popular breakfast/dessert option these days. In fact, my brother and his wife chose to have donuts at their wedding instead of a traditional wedding cake, which definitely suited them and made for some really fun memories. This is a delicious themed storytime, especially if you happen to serve a little snack with your storytime. It would be perfect for a morning program and would be a great hit among the kids.

It’s time for a storytime theme about lizards! I think lizards are absolutely fascinating creatures and this storytime can incorporate both fun, read aloud stories with great nonfiction titles to create a unique storytime about these particular reptiles. Songs and rhymes about reptiles and lizards are a little more difficult to find, but I came across a couple of cute songs that can definitely be added to this storytime.

I love board books, they’re such a cute size and if you’re reading for a good audience, it’s definitely time for quality snuggles! This list of board books are all brand new for 2024 – some might be previously published as full-size picture books, while others are brand new and only available in board book form. You’ll find some crowd-favorite authors like Sandra Boynton and Lucy Cousins, but you’ve also got to check out Alanna Flowers and Lucas Zanotto.

Most of the books listed below are all about kids, but I had to throw a nonfiction title in about animal fur and wool too, because why not?

I’ll be honest, the end of the alphabet gets a little trickier with some letters that are not so easy to find picture books for, but I will persevere because after this week there are only five more letters left! I can’t believe it! Today’s letter was difficult, no doubt about it, but you can find some great books about umbrellas, unicorns, and underwear. I then stretched it a little bit with books on uppercase letters, going up, and the planet, Uranus.

Since it’s November and a time for gratefulness, I decided to share ten reasons why I’m thankful for libraries. I grew up visiting my home library since I can remember and I started working in libraries when I was 14 years old. I have had a passion for libraries for so long and you’ll see some of the reasons why I love the career I chose so much!I am an avid reader and without the library, I’d be spending a whole lot more money on books whether physical books or an online subscription.
