The mother of a young girl operated on 17 times by a now-suspended surgeon has told Sky News she's "angry and so upset" and fears her daughter may never walk again. Her child is only eight years old and now needs further surgery, including a hip replacement. She was one of nine patients whose treatment fell below the expected standard at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. The Department of Health told Sky News the situation is "incredibly concerning".

Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge is reviewing the cases of 800 patients who were operated on by a now-suspended paediatric surgeon. The hospital has also admitted that concerns were first raised about the individual in 2015, which led to a clinical review of the surgeon's work the following year. A specialist independent investigation team has been hired to assess whether the findings of the review were acted on, and whether issues could have been identified earlier.

A baby girl died from a serious brain injury because midwives failed to provide basic medical care, a coroner has concluded. Ida Lock, who lived for just seven days, was born at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary in November 2019 but suffered a brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen. She was transferred to intensive care at Royal Preston Hospital's neonatal unit where she died a week later on 16 November 2019.
