Michigan is full of stories of all kinds. At Cronicle, we love stories about people who are innovating, creating, and building community, and who love this state as much as we do. I sat down with acquaintances Charlie and Judy Brice, whom I had met previously at Michigan's literary writers' retreat Bear River Writers Retreat, which has happened now for over 20 years at Camp Michigania on the shores of Lake Walloon.

You may have noticed if you already picked up a copy of Cronicle's first fiction release Murder of Crows: Reverse All Tides about a mermaid reincarnated into a cursed town of walking corpses, that there is something off with the cover. You've probably seen this issue a lot lately: the skin color of the main character on the book cover doesn't match the character's skin in the book.

Cronicle is happy to announce the release of our first fiction publication set in the Great Lakes: Murder of Crows Reverse All Tides, book 1 in the Michigandia fantasy series. Joel Laundry found a mermaid swimming in a well in downtown Feysville. Magic that seems normal to residents whose families have lived here long enough to not ask questions makes Joel uneasy. What if a town is so polluted, so poisoned by its own greed and secrets that it needs cleansing from the ground up?

AbstractThe duckweeds feature global distributions and diverse applications in phytoremediation and nutrition, as well as use in fundamental studies of development. Existing collections have minimal environmental data linked to natural habitats. Thus, there is a lack of understanding of natural variation in the context of native habitats. Here, a novel collection of 124 duckweed accessions from 115 sites across the United Kingdom were characterised by genome sequencing and ionomics.
