However, for women, weight gain had an impact on cancer mortality regardless of when the weight was put on. A judge has ordered the arrest of a teen accused of using a hammer and a hatchet in a gang attack on a woman held in a flat in the city last year. The 17-year-old boy faces allegations of false imprisonment and assault causing harm to the complainant, 37, at Henrietta House, Dublin 7, on September 26. The teen, who cannot be named because he is a minor, is also accused of producing a metal pole, hammer and hatchet during the alleged attack.

The weight of a child aged six is the best predictor of whether they will be obese in adulthood, research has found. Experts from the Netherlands said the first five years of a child's life are crucial when it comes to preventing obesity in the future. They suggested the first years of life were a "fantastic opportunity to intervene" and give youngsters a "chance of a happy, healthy" future.

Dr Wolff Sagy said: "We believe this effect may come from the inflammation-reducing quality of GLP-1s. But of course this type of study cannot say for sure that's the mechanism. "I believe there could be a future where people who are not obese, but have other risk factors for cancer, could be prescribed GLP-1s to help prevent it."She said the medication offered "amazing advantages" and appeared to prevent a wide range of conditions.
