Community groups are being given the chance to get their hands on a slice of a £150k funding pot. The third round of the Uk Shared Prosperity Fund aims to improve or provide new community spaces and facilities – with grants of up to £25k up for grabs. You can apply for community projects that are based in or benefit residents of Central Bedfordshire. But there’s a 20% match funding requirement – and any required permissions, including planning, must have been previously sought.

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A big party to celebrate love and make a real difference in people’s lives; students learn the importance of giving to others. The first shave of many at the party in the parking lot at St. Rita School in Hamden. The students raised a lot of money for a good cause. “Our goal was $6,000 and we raised 6 thousand $7,000,” Suzanne Hamling, middle school teacher, said. The entire school raised around $6,700 for a cause near and dear to their hearts.

A shop in Leighton Buzzard has been shut down for selling illegal tobacco and vapes – thanks to the help of a dog with a nose for crime. Sniffer dog Maustin helped uncover 451 vapes, 758 cigarette packets and 175 tobaccoo pouches at L&B Market on North Street. Now, Central Bedfordshire Council has issued a three-month closure order – making it a criminal offence to enter the shop.

Train lines between London and Luton have reopened after a person was hit by a train. In a statement shortly after 10am this morning (June 16) Thameslink said: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between St Albans City and Luton.”Lines have now reopened, between St Albans City and Luton, with trains now able to call at Luton Airport Parkway. DART services have also resumed.
