    Foyle Port in Northern Ireland is preparing for a rise in cruise tourism in 2025, with the number of ship calls expected to increase by 21 per cent compared to 2019. A total of 17 cruise ships are scheduled to visit the port between May and September, including five vessels making maiden calls. Returning cruise lines include AE Expeditions, Azamara, Crystal Cruises, Mystic Cruises, Noble Caledonia, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Silversea, Phoenix Reisen and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

    Member States of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have agreed a set of mid-term measures to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from international shipping.   The regulations were agreed by Member States at the Marine Environment Protection Committee during its 83rd session (MEPC 83), which took place at the IMO headquarters in London, UK, from 7–11 April 2025. The regulations will be formally adopted in October 2025 and will come into force in 2027.

    Digital ship designer Incat Crowther and US shipbuilder Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) will design, build and deliver two new electric ferries for San Francisco Bay Ferry.   Both 43-metre ferries will have capacity for 400 passengers and 60 bicycles, and will operate on busy commuter routes to connect Oakland, Alameda, Seaplane Lagoon and Harbor Bay to San Francisco.
