1. IntroductionMillions of nonhuman animals experience life and death at the hands of Canadian universities. They are variously caught in the wild, purchased and shipped to or bred at the university, contained in restrictive housing, manipulated, injured, and killed. These practices are overseen by a national quasi-regulatory administrative body, the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC).
