It's true — you can't believe everything posted on social media. An April 21 Indiana State Police news release warns of a Facebook scam where false information is being disseminated in an attempt to gain personal data. The message, which is being posted and reposted, says police are seeking help to find a missing Bloomington Police Department officer. It lists the name of a real 28-year-old woman and gives her height and weight. A photo is attached.

Police say the suspect in a March 29 shooting incident near a neighborhood playground in Bloomington threatened to kill people before firing five shots at men fleeing from him. No one was injured. Initial charges against 18-year-old Gregory Cordell Baker Jr. have been upgraded to attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, and criminal recklessness for firing into a building; one of the bullets entered an apartment and lodged in a wall.

A man who ran a massage business in Ellettsville is being returned to Bloomington to face charges ranging from prostitution to illegal possession of a turtle after his March 30 arrest in Virginia. Police in Winchester, Virginia, identified the man after a roadside license plate reader noted the car passing, which sent a notification to local police that the registered owner was wanted on warrants in Indiana.

Vandals shattered thick-pane glass windows at The Mill and The Forge buildings in Bloomington's downtown technology park overnight Wednesday as storms pounded the city. Damage to the Trades District hubs near 11th and Madison streets was substantial and replacing the windows will cost thousands of dollars. Glass doors and multiple 3-by-5-foot windows at the Mill were destroyed.

Bob Bridge, a beloved sports journalist and columnist for the Times-Mail, passed away on March 28 at the age of 71. He was inducted into both the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Hall of Fame and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. A memorial service will be held at the BNL Fieldhouse at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 13. BEDFORD − Bob Bridge knew his way around Lawrence County.
