    Choral groups don’t often focus on American composers…which is why fans of the genre are in for a treat next week. The Pasadena Chorale will showcase pieces by several different U.S. composers, in a variety of styles, during its upcoming “Sing America Part Two: E Pluribus Unum” concert. The show is the second installment in the chorale’s “Sing America” series. It will be held Wednesday, June 11, at the First United Methodist Church Pasadena and serve as the last concert of the 2024-25 season.

Released in April, the mortgage loan officer’s first book, “The One Who Stayed,” follows Isabella, a Latina mother of three dealing with feelings of emotional neglect in her 20-year marriage. In the car with her husband, David, Isabella has an epiphany that forces her to make a life-altering decision. “She’s coming to the realization that they no longer have anything in common,” said Guzman, who also has three children.

These days, he is appearing on Broadway in the show “Real Women Have Curves.”The show opened on Broadway on April 27. It was adapted from a stage play by Josefina López. The musical version features a score by Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez and a script by Lisa Loomer. “Real Women Have Curves” also inspired a 2002 film, starring America Ferrera as the main character, Ana.

    Downtown-LA-based comedian, radio personality and entrepreneur Dina Mild grew up in Moscow, and has lived in Los Angeles since 2022. Her background in improv comedy helped her develop her first one-woman show, “Family Values,” which explores her experiences growing up in 1990s Russia. Mild will present her show at Hollywood Fringe on Saturday, June 7; Sunday, June 22, and Saturday, June 8, at Upstairs @ El Centro.

The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance and the town of Oro Valley present the free live music series.
