By Laura Michell Wyndham council’s plan to use leftover developer contribution funding from Point Cook for a community events space – which might be built outside the suburb – has been defended by mayor Mia Shaw. During council’s March 25 meeting, nine of the city’s 11 councillors backed council exploring opportunities to build a large multi-purpose events space for residents using the unrestricted residual funds from the former Point Cook developer contributions.

By Laura Michell A Whittlesea councillor has called for those responsible for a vote tampering scheme in the Lalor Ward to be prosecuted, as the candidates for the ward’s by-election are revealed. Voters in Lalor Ward will once again be asked to elect a councillor after the October 2024 election result for their ward was voided by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) in May.

By Laura Michell A proposal to allow a cafe associated with a new Werribee aged care centre to open its doors to the public is headed to the state’s planning tribunal after Wyndham council failed to make a decision within the required timeframe. Arcare applied to council for a permit to allow the cafe associated with its facility on Newmarket Road to operate as a stand alone food and drink premises and cater to the public, aged care facility staff, residents and visitors.
