"There are a couple of TVs in the house. There’s one right in front of me in the kitchen surrounded by a cabinet and shelves, cook books, bottles of wine – and weights. I have tennis elbow, so I’ve got to do some rehabilitation. Getting old – being 53, going on 54 – is the problem!"How do you stay active? "I still train. Yesterday, I did 40 minutes of shadowboxing and skipping and all sorts of boxing exercises. It’s such a good all-round workout. If I’m travelling, I can do it in a small bedroom.

Valerie, 89, from Sydney, Australia, recalls the stuntman who was too scared to get in the water, the sharks that rewrote the script, and trying to restore the animal’s reputation after the film terrorised cinemagoers. SOME FIN IN THE WATERSpearfishing was a man’s sport, so I joined a club in Sydney in my 20s for the men — they were hunks! That’s where I met my husband Ron [he passed away in 2012]. He was very clever and made underwater housings for cameras.

Jones came up with the idea for Pushers with co-writer Peter Fellows back in 2018, and it started life as an award-winning Channel 4 comedy short in 2022 under the name Disability Benefits. Now it has been expanded to a six-part sitcom — the perfect platform for Jones to highlight important issues within the disabled community and give us a “hearty giggle”. After watching the series, you might be tempted to say there are echoes of the US drama Breaking Bad (albeit with more laughs).
