    It's Pride Month in Louisville, Kentucky and WFPK is celebrating with music by LGBTQ+ artists and fun interviews throughout June. I spoke with Richie Goff who is the marketing director for Louisville Food Tours who do all kinds of food and beverage tours. This month for Pride, they are offering what's called Pride Plates: Kentucky's Queer History Food Tour. The food portion is bites that are unique to Kentucky with stops for Fried Chicken, Hot Browns, and special bourbon cocktails.

    It's been a while since we heard from Louisville band Comforter but they are back with a great new single called "Fly You Fools" and hope it'll get the ball rolling again. I asked them about the inspiration for the new song: "The song was inspired by a moment on a honeymoon flight where we literally just flew above the storm we were in. It was interesting, almost comical to consider a solution could be that simple.

    Singer songwriter Kelsey Waldon is from Ballard County, KY. She's about to release her sixth album called Every Ghost on June 20, 2025. She just shared the first single called "Tiger Lilies" which is a lovely tune about her beloved grandmother who would stop her giant white Cadillac on any roadside to dig up a plant she'd like to have in her garden. Surrounding a Crepe Myrtle in her backyard were hundreds of Tiger Lilies.

    The 2025 music festival season has begun with the local Enchanted Mayhem Music Festival this Saturday, May 10, now in its 4th year at The Enchanted Forest & Music Hall in New Albany, Indiana. The popular event is organized in part by Joe Bowers who is also a member of the band The Low Glow. We asked Joe to tell us a bit of background on the festival and anything else we should know:"The festival originated in 2022 as a way to bring together all the amazing local "jam scene" bands.

    Right before April's Waterfront Wednesday show, I got to speak with Brian Vander Ark of The Verve Pipe. Not only is he a great musician, he's also a public speaker who tells his story of playing in filled stadiums in the 1990s to house concerts when the money ran out. Doing his art and connecting with fans no matter the venue, became a humbling experience and the way back to loving being a musician again. Brian also talked about playing for kids vs. adults among other subjects.
