    Abigail Rose is a very talented singer/songwriter who is from Nashville, TN. No, I mean she's really from there and not from anywhere else! Did she have any other choice for a profession growing up in Music City? She says no but it's because music is in her blood and she'd be doing it no matter where she was from. I believe her! Performing and writing songs since the age of 13, she tells us her story and plays 2 excellent songs from her recent EP Surpise Valley with "Run Out of Me" and "Run Girl".

    Louisville singer/songwriter Sheri Streeter made a punk rock anthem with their new song "You Can't Take That Away From Me" reminiscent of a Throwing Muses or Belly tune. Co-written by Cadillac Young of Shitfire, it harkens back to a time of being grounded by her late father who would ban her from music knowing that would be sufficient punishment for whatever offense she commited. But ultimately he indavertently helped create even more music.

    One of the best performances of the year so far at WFPK's Waterfront Wednesdays was from Southern Avenue. They are from Memphis, TN. and have a new album called Family which is literally about their family and journey as a band. Seeing them on stage was a thrilling experience due to the magnetic energy of front woman and lead singer Tierinii Jackson, fiddler Ava Jackson, drummer TK Jackson, and their guitarist Ori Naftaly.

    Sam Tabor is from Louisville, KY. and has made most of his living from being a YouTube star. But his videos were about skateboarding and gaming vs. his other passion which is music. He has long dreamed of making a full length album and that day has finally come. The new album is called I Hope They Set You Free and will be released on June 20, 2025. Sam worked with producer and former drummer for Wilco, Ken Coomer in Nashville. The result is a dynamic mix of upbeat pop and beautiful ballads.

    It's Pride Month in Louisville, Kentucky and WFPK is celebrating with music by LGBTQ+ artists and fun interviews throughout June. I spoke with Richie Goff who is the marketing director for Louisville Food Tours who do all kinds of food and beverage tours. This month for Pride, they are offering what's called Pride Plates: Kentucky's Queer History Food Tour. The food portion is bites that are unique to Kentucky with stops for Fried Chicken, Hot Browns, and special bourbon cocktails.
