Racehorse health and performance can be significantly affected by subtle problems which lead to poor performance and loss of training days. This slows horses down and costs money. An understanding of biomechanics and how muscles work is crucial for success in the horse’s training. Optimum performance requires all body systems to function at, or close to, maximum capacity.

90-year-old John Clark joined the Singapore Royal Engineers regiment in the army when he was just 19 years old and was part of the Sappers Sailing Club. During this time, he picked up a love for sailing and when he returned home, he joined the Midlands Sailing Club and even built his own 12-foot boat. He later moved to a sailing club in North Shropshire and eventually, he founded his own club, Himley Hall Sailing Club, where he sailed until he was 83.

In my work, I have found that it is very important to start our horses’ lives right, and keep good training and longevity at the fore of our priorities. As a therapist, I witness many unusual behaviors, unbalanced structures and restrictive functions in horses.
