A 4-year-old driver and a Virginia State trooper were two of the people that went to the hospital to be treated. They were both later released. Officers from the The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office responded to Lee Hill Elementary School shortly after 10:50 a.m. for reports of a gun being fired.
No jumbotrons on National Mall for Inauguration viewing

WASHINGTON — If you were planning on watching Inauguration Day events Monday from the National Mall, you'll need to rearrange your plans. The National Park Service told WUSA9 Sunday morning that the jumbotrons on the Mall have been removed, per the request of the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Thus, with the previous location changes for all official Inauguration events, there will be no public viewing option for most of the ceremonies.

Body of missing 6-year-old boy with non-verbal autism found in pond

Fawzan Hassan, a child with non-verbal autism, had gone missing a little more than 24 hours before. His family said he had last been seen at Bohrer Park on Frederick Avenue Saturday at 3 p.m. Just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, community members spotted a body in the pond at Bohrer Park, and contacted police. The body was positively identified as Fawzan.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Theo was left in a parked car, along with the owner's purse, just before 1 p.m. in the 1900 block of M Street, Southeast. When the owner returned, they found both Theo and their purse missing.

WASHINGTON — DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb introduced legislation Thursday that could make major changes to a 26-year-old law aimed at curbing violence in D.C. neighborhoods. In 1998, the Drug-Related Nuisance Abatement Act was passed. It gave the office of the attormey general the power to sue properties that were known to have drug, prostitution or gun problems. Now, the Secure Apartments For Everyone (SAFE) Regulation Amendment Act is looking to expand those crime combatting powers.
Man arrested in connection to shooting near Nationals Park

WASHINGTON — A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection to a shooting Saturday night near Nationals Park. Around 9:20 p.m. officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the 1200 block of Half Street, Southeast for reports of a shooting. Once on scene, they found a man in an alley with gunshot wounds. He was conscious and breathing. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
