Meanwhile, the cone fad helped fuel overall us ice cream consumption. In 1900, annual consumption per capita was about a quart (950 ml). By 1915, that figure had quadrupled, according to the International Association of Ice Cream Vendors.

Philip Weiss passed away on Jan. 25 at the age of 38, after a courageous lifelong battle with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He died peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Philip was a computer engineer who graduated from the UC Berkeley in 2010 with a degree in electrical engineering and computer science. He worked at Cisco Systems and co-founded PTW Design & Development with his father Richard, a start-up dedicated to developing adaptive technologies for people with disabilities.
