News Christopher Banfield, the man accused of beating his 75-year-old father to death at the family home in Flanagin Town, appeared before a master in the High Court on June 23. Master Whitney Franklin, in the North Court C, denied bail and ordered that the accused undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the St Ann's Psychiatric Hospital. The case was adjourned to July 8.

News Kibwe Wells, the 21-year-old security officer from Laventille, charged with the murder of Savanna Dyer, made his first court appearance on June 23 and was denied bail. Wells, of Quarry Street, East Dry River, appeared before Master Whitney Franklin in North Court C on June 23, when he was remanded into custody. A sufficiency hearing has been set for February 25, 2026. Wells was initially scheduled to appear in South Court B, but the matter was redirected.

News La Brea police are searching for a thief who removed part of a wooden wall to break into a house in La Brea and stole a quantity of snacks and cigarettes. The victim, a 40-year-old woman from Queen Street, reported that she secured her home and shop – operated from her kitchen – around 5 pm on June 20, locking all windows and doors before leaving.

News A 25-year-old mason from Petite Café, Princes Town, has been sentenced to over five years' imprisonment with hard labour after pleading guilty to multiple traffic offences stemming from a recent joint police exercise by regular and municipal police. Keylan Hamilton appeared before Princes Town magistrate Taramatie Ramdass in the Second Court on June 17 and pleaded guilty to five charges.

News A family trip with relatives visiting from the USA turned tragic on the afternoon of June 22 when 61-year-old Richard Ramcharan drowned at Maracas Beach. The father of two lived at Arch Street in Vistabella, San Fernando. His 58-year-old brother-in-law also got into difficulty while swimming but survived the ordeal. At the family’s home on June 23, his grieving son Adrian Ramcharan described his father as a kind, hardworking and honest person.
