Despite the fact that the sun is shining and Starbucks is selling its summer-themed iced drinks, I’ve found myself wandering down the horror hole yet again. From eerie graphic novels to DMing Candela Obscura for my unsuspecting team of paranormal investigators, for whatever reason spring 2025 feels closer to autumn than it does anything else.

Once upon a time I only played triple-A games. Devil May Cry, Dragon Age, Mortal Kombat; all amazing franchises in their own rights, each of which defined my childhood in many different ways. But, since I began working in this industry – and at PCGamesN specifically – I’ve fallen in love with indie games, happily casting aside big open-world, narrative-driven triple-A games for gems like Animal Well, Indika, and, now, Promise Mascot Agency.

It’s no secret that I have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with vampires. From Vampire: The Masquerade to traditional Hammer horror, for some bizarre reason I just love those little bloodsucking guys. I only really became familiar with the term ‘Wuxia’ ahead of playing Phantom Blade Zero at Summer Game Fest last year. Enshrouded was one of myriad survival games that dropped in 2024, but it is, perhaps, one of the best-rated. While competitors like Nightingale and Bellwright struggled to stick the landing, Keen Games’ ARPG and base-builder hybrid has just surpassed a colossal four million players and isn’t slowing down any time soon. Its new update, Thralls of Twilight, is set for May, and, as the name might suggest, focuses on a series of nighttime adventures.

I’ve been excited about Sunderfolk ever since I laid eyes on it, and honestly it was a great little DnD adventure. @sweeetanj is an absolute standout, and I’m excited to play more! Impressions via @PCGamesN - and look at that ‘lil bat bard! https://t.co/3rKx1mH8I7

After hundreds of hours listening to @NADDPod on long haul flights and summer walks, I have finally finished Campaign 1 and it has been amazing. 🍄 Thank you for keeping me company during the chaos, onwards to Trinyvale and buying more merch whenever I’m not in the UK!
