I learned my first lesson about safari photography the hard way. There I was, at a small airstrip in Botswana, buying an extra plane ticket for my camera bag. I’d neglected to consider the strict luggage weight restrictions on most bush planes, and I was over the limit. (It was lucky that the plane could accommodate the extra bag at all.)  By the end of the trip, I hadn’t touched the wide-angle lens I packed; the tripod in my bag was unused.

If riding a trifecta of famous railways through the Swiss Alps, attending a decadent chocolate tasting, and watching an unforgettable sunset with an Aperol spritz in hand sounds right up your alley, this adventure is probably made for you. Hulda Brynjólfsdóttir holds a midnight cloud in her hand. “This wool here is from a sheep called Tina,” she says, as we stand in her mini-mill, spinning the cloud into yarn. Behind her, mounds of soft fleece line floor-to-ceiling shelves. In contrast to Brynjólfsdóttir’s effortless demonstration, I’m doing a poor job of spinning Tina’s high-quality coat into yarn, but she just smiles, matching the welcoming mood.

Photo: Travel + Leisure When you're heading out for a day at the beach, you're likely to spend at least a few hours lounging in the sand and enjoying the water. You will likely packed snacks, a water bottle, maybe even a book or portable speaker. To maximize your time and ensure your comfort and safety, a beach shade should always be a part of your beach essentials. Sun protection is always front of mind when I'm spending time at the beach, whether by the ocean, lake, or riverside.
