Joe Sacco’s time with the Bruins officially came to an end on Thursday when he joined the New York Rangers as an assistant after Boston announced it hired Marco Sturm as its next coach. Sacco took over in the interim after Jim Montgomery was fired in November. The 17 one-run losses, mental errors and 588 strikeouts have fans wondering whether Cora’s seat should be hot, or if he’s the right man to lead the Red Sox. After the collapse, the Braves decided to call up reinforcement from Triple-A in the form of Craig Kimbrel, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported. The former Boston Red Sox closer signed a minor league deal with Atlanta in March.
