Following the 2017 spillway crisis that forced the evacuation of nearly 200,000 people in our area, Roy Carlson, the supervising engineer with the Department of Water Resources Operations and Maintenance, said preventative work like what's being done this week is essential to the safety of our communities.

Moretti has been to hundreds of fires throughout his 40 years of experience as a firefighter. He started the North Valley Animal Disaster Group back in 1999. It was a shock for him to learn that all the work he’s done over the years, preparing his own home in Cohasset with defensible space, was no match for the Park Fire.

CHICO, Calif.- Those looking to cool down at the Sycamore Pool at One Mile Recreation Area will now have an extra set of eyes on them now that lifeguards are back on duty. Lifeguards haven't taken post at the pool since 2021 due to COVID-19 according to Recreation Supervisor, Andres Corrales. The lifeguards also come with a new set of pool rules. Action News Now spoke with one swimmer, Zachary Burr, who didn't know he broke the rules. Nonetheless he still appreciates having lifeguards back on duty.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - A major milestone for fire safety in Concow as the Butte County community finally has a fire station five years after the Camp Fire burned the old one down. "It's just amazing, and it's so good to see. It's a hard way to get a new building, but we certainly appreciate it," retired Station 37 Fire Chief Bob Saville said. On Thursday, CAL FIRE volunteer station number 37 had its grand opening for its new building.
