Residents in the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District region will soon vote on a millage proposal aimed at supporting the area’s students with disabilities. The OAISD Special Education Millage Proposal, which is on the May 6 ballot, includes an 18-year renewal of the 1.2425 mills approved in 2007 and a 20-year restoration of 0.5 mill.

Sarah Taylor, sixth-grade teacher at Spring Lake Intermediate School, is the Grand Haven Tribune’s Teacher of the Week. Taylor has been a teacher for 15 years and has worked in the Spring Lake Public Schools district for 19 years. She is a well-respected teacher amongst her colleagues and has great rapport with her students. In her classroom, Taylor gives her sixth-graders a safe space to be silly and have fun with one another while also expanding their academic knowledge and growing life skills.
