BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - For Mother’s Day Sunday, Senator Katie Britt reintroduced her legislation Wednesday called the MOMS Act or the More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed Act. “While being a mom is the most rewarding experience, I think I can speak for most moms when I say that it’s a challenging one as well,” said Sen. Katie Britt. There are three main parts to the bill. The first part creates a resource website, “pregnancy.gov”, for expecting, postpartum, and moms with young children.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A lawsuit was filed Wednesday night by the first appointed member of the Regional Water Works System (RWWS) against the City of Birmingham and the Birmingham Water Works Board (BWWB). The lawsuit is asking a judge to declare the new RWWS is in charge and the old BWWB is invalid because it no longer exists. This comes after the BWWB met Wednesday night and voted to sell the utility to the City of Birmingham hours after the governor signed Senate Bill 330 into law.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Starting Wednesday, May 7, you’ll be required to have either a STAR ID or a passport to board an airplane or enter a federal building. While some people think this is a new initiative, the STAR ID has been available statewide since 2012. What is new is the enforcement date which has been extended several times for circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a nationwide initiative to enhance the security of federal identification credentials.
