    WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Midway ISD held a Back to School Summit for district teachers and staff at Midway High School. This conference-style event featured in-district educators teaching their peers with about 1,300 people in attendance. The district focused on the theme ‘Leading the Way’, with 240 empowering sessions. Teachers could sign up for any sessions and times that interested them and applied to their classroom needs.

    WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The Education Travel and Culture group (ETC) is looking for people or families to host around 80 foreign exchange students here in Central Texas. They bring high school students to America to study for the year and give them the opportunity of a lifetime. Senior Field Manager for ETC, Chriss Stanley, says smaller schools like the ones here in Central Texas give kids the chance to connect and plug in with ease, instead of feeling lost in a bigger setting.

    BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - Belton youth had the chance to learn all about oral history today from Baylor University professors. Baylor and Bell County partnered to host the Preserving History workshop at the Bell County Museum. Professors Stephen Sloan and Adrienne Cain Darough taught kids from the Heritage Legacy Curators Group about the importance and sustaining value of recording history from the people around them while they still can.

    WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The new $77.6 million Tennyson Middle School was revealed to faculty and staff today. Tennyson is one of five Waco ISD schools undergoing renovation as part of the 2021 bond project. At 184,000 sq. feet, the new building is right next to the old but considerably larger. Waco ISD Superintendent, Dr. Susan Kincannon, said the new design was focused on safety and community engagement. “What you find here is a building that has been organized for the kids,” she said.
